Welcome to Hogwarts, school for witchcraft and wizardry! I am headmistress Artemis Gamule. We are about to start the term of 1940-1941. If you would like to sign up do so now or if you have a curriculum to hand in, do so quickly!

-Headmistress Artemis Gamule

Welcome to Hogwarts RPG. This is a simple enough Harry Potter wiki taking place in 1940-1941. Why is it taking place in the past? Because then, there is absolutely no way you can even try to be Harry Potter or any of his friends. I don't want any other character from the book here either, or anyone related to them. I only want original characters, made by your immagination!
Even the classes won't be exactly the same as the ones in the books and even first and second years will have to sign up to a maximum of four and a minimum of 2 of them. There are 4 main areas of magic; Charms, Divination, Transfiguration and Conjuring Summoning. Your character will have a strength and a weakness in those four choices. There are also levels that may vary depending on your character and their strangths/weaknesses. Here's a brief explanation:

Charms: The ability to cast various charms for different reasons. Lower levels cast more simple spells and spend most of their time studying technique or the influence of elements on magic while higher levels advanced students will practice more complex spells while they already know most of the technique.

Transfiguration: The ability to transform an object into an other. Students with lower levels have more difficulty grasping the subject unless it is their strength. Higher levelled students should not have too much difficulty unless it is their weakness.

Divination: The ability to see the future. Lower levels usually take time to decipher what they see though students who have it as a weakness barely understand a thing until they get to higher levels, where they still have difficulty. Only true seers can see perfectly. Higher levels usually understand well enough.

Conjuring/Summoning: The ability to conjure an object out of thin air or to summon an animal to you. Lower levels study the technique and may attempt to conjure dust or parchment or such small things and summon bacteria or small animals up to the size of rats while higher levels try to conjure or summon large or complex objects such as chairs or objects made of a certain material and summon bigger and exotic animals such as wolves or boars.

Ok so that is one thing explained. Everything else is easy as 1-2-3.

You can start at any year but the character bios of years 4 and over need to be longer than usual. Next term, the years will go up. When seventh years leave the school, they have the options different jobs. They can go off to the ministry or gringotts or St-Mungo's or whatever job they'd like, or, they can become professors at Hogwarts. You don't need to be a Hogwarts graduate to become a professor, or else the rpg would never begin, but its interesting to have old school mates as students...

Professors can retire, take a sabatic year, have a maternity break or even be fired. If every professor stays at Hogwarts, there would never be a new one. Headmistress Gamule will leave someday as well. But please, if you are serious about this rpg, leave after a while and let somebody else have some fun, too. You can always make a new character when your first one leaves the school, it makes the wiki more interesting.

Students do not always have to start at the first year, especially not during the first few terms.

You can have one student character and/or one teacher character, no more. You cannot have two students or two teachers. No exceptions.

The deputy headmaster and heads of houses will be chosen by Headmistress Gamule. When she retires, the deputy headmaster/headmistress will take her place and choose a deputy from the heads of houses. positions can always change.

The heads of houses and most professors will choose your houses based on a vote. They will read your character biography and decide which house suits your character best. The houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. The results are final, do not complain.

You don't Need to do your homework unless its specified by your professor. But do it if you want to, it could be fun and it'll earn you those extra points!

okay so that is the basic how-to. Hogwarts-rules cover the actual rules of Hogwarts and it is necessary that you read them.

Hogwarts incantations all the incantations you will be using this year + the magic levels required to use them.
Hograrts-rules Obviously, the rules.
magic levels a better explanation of magic levels
quidditch how it will be played (It doea sound harder than it really is, trust me!)
Wizard duels sing ups/explanations/etc.
Hogwarts application form
Hogwarts students 1940 The students attending Hogwarts in the year 1940, sorted into houses.
Hogwarts teachers 1940 The list of professors teaching at Hogwarts in the year 1940. A list of currently availible positions is also included but I am open to class suggestions. Oh, and just a tip, don't all jump on the core classes because it is likely you won't get the job. If you really must, it would be better to include an other teaching position your character could also teach. But don't worry, I keep a list of possible replacements.
